That is the only question this log answers. If the ridge is in cloud, the ride is a grey zero. If the deck is clear, the summit is worth the morning.
I spent twenty-five years watching the cloud deck for Environment Canada. Retirement in Banff did not stop the habit. I still look south at the ridge before I tell anyone to go up.
